On March 18, 2024, the Institute of Economics of the Russian Academy of Sciences in cooperation with the New Economic Association held a roundtable on " Asset Tokenization: Global Trends and Potential Application in Russia's Financial Sphere" as part of the Digital Finance Seminar.
The roundtable participants discussed a wide range of issues related to the economic content of the tokenization process, its potential benefits and challenges associated with its implementation, distinctive features of different types of tokenized assets, prospects and limits of the use of digital currencies and financial assets in Russia and abroad, and others.

The Congress was hosted by the Ural State University of Economics, the Institute of Economics of the Ural Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences, the Ural State Mining University, and the Ural Institute of Management. 969 scientific reports by participants from 99 Russian cities and 12 foreign countries were selected for the Congress. Within the framework of REC-2023, 214 sessions were held during 19 thematic conferences, including the Conference of Young Scientists. 8 plenary roundtables devoted to topical problems of economics were organized.

Scientific conference "Russian economy under the influence of external shocks (to the 300th anniversary of RAS)"
On December 19, 2022, the Section of Economics of the Department of Social Sciences, RAS, with the participation of the institutes of the Russian Academy of Sciences (Institute of Economics, Institute of National Economy Forecasting and Institute of Scientific Information on Social Sciences) held a scientific conference "Russian Economy under the influence of external shocks (to the 300th anniversary of RAS)". This event was organized within the framework of the project "Towards the 300th Anniversary of the Russian Academy of Sciences".
Prof. Mikhail Golovnin, Director of IE RAS, Corresponding Member of RAS, moderated the first part of the conference. During its second part, Dr. Elena Lenchuk presented her report "Technological Modernization as the Basis for Anti-Sanctions Policy". The participants of the conference examined the situations when the economy and society of the Soviet Union and Russia were subjected to external shocks (caused not only by the world community but also by factors not related to the economy, such as pandemics, climate change etc.), as well as the way economic policy reacted to those shocks. Particular attention was paid to the lessons of the past and the possibilities of using them to develop a system of appropriate responses from the government, business and society as a whole during the current geopolitical and geoeconomic crisis involving the unprecedented sanctions pressure on the Russian economy.

On October 28, 2022, the Institute of Economics, Russian Academy of Sciences, held an international Russian-Korean conference "New Eurasian Order and Korea's Approach Strategy to Eurasia".

Participants of the conference discussed the changing geopolitical order and the challenges it poses for Russia, the Republic of Korea, and Eurasia as a whole.
The first panel focused on how Russia's economic policies are changing and what these changes mean for South Korea. The role of Central Asia in a changing environment and the policy of the Republic of Korea in the region was discussed at the second section. The third panel was addressed import substitution policies in Russia.

Scope and Aim of the Conference
The fourth industrial revolution is set to fundamentally transform national economies in aspects concerning manufacturing processes, transport, city landscapes. People, businesses, governments – all will be affected by these changes. To ensure safe and smooth transition and equal opportunities for development under new imperatives, countries need to develop necessary policy responses.

The 34th Annual Conference of the European Association for Evolutionary Political Economy (EAEPE) took place in Naples, Italy, on September 7-9, 2022.

September 20, 2022, Delegation from the Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences at the Institute of Economics, Russian Academy of Sciences
On September 20, a delegation from the Institute for European Studies of the Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences (VASS) visited the Institute of Economics of the Russian Academy of Sciences. The main purpose of the visit was to discuss promising areas of bilateral cooperation under the agreement signed in 2019. These include joint scientific events and publications on the topics that are of interest to both parties.
Short-term plans include organizing a joint conference "Development of cooperation between Russia and Vietnam under sanctions" (scheduled for October 18). The meeting participants discussed details about the upcoming conference and, in addition, shared their views on the priorities of socio-economic development of Russia and Vietnam, and opportunities to improve the effectiveness of bilateral relations.

From September 15 to 17, 2022, the Institute of Economics of the Russian Academy of Sciences, together with the Kazan Innovative University, named after Vitaly Timiryasov, and the "Center for Evolutionary Economics" held the VIII All-Russian Summer School for young researchers in Evolutionary and Institutional Economics.
All-Russian Summer Schools have been held since 2008 in various regions of Russia every two years. Their task is to acquaint young researchers with modern achievements in the fields of evolutionary, institutional and other sections of economic theory, to introduce young researchers to the cutting edge of research in these areas.

On March 29, 2022, the Russian Academy of Sciences in partnership with the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS) held a joint scientific conference "Russia and China: Joint Development and Modernization". The event was organized within the framework of the project "Towards the 300th Anniversary of the Russian Academy of Sciences" with the participation of the Institute of Economics of the RAS, the Institute of Russia, Eastern Europe and Central Asia of the CASS, and the Russian-Chinese Committee for Friendship, Peace and Development.
Conference participants, leading Russian and Chinese scientists, discussed the two countries’ experience in modernization, the development of national economies in the face of global systemic risks, and possible approaches to minimizing these risks. Participants of the conference discussed problems of economic development in the time of the COVID-19 pandemic faced by Russia and the whole world. Young scholars representing various scientific schools analyzed main challenges to modern development influencing the world economy’s evolution, evaluated the potential for Russia’s economic growth targeted at overcoming the consequences of current global and regional threats, and suggested measures to refine national socio-economic strategies.

On November 25, 2021 the Asian Strategy Center of the Institute of Economics of the Russian Academy of Sciences, together with the Department of World Economy of St. Petersburg State University and the Russian National Committee on BRICS Research, hosted (online on the ZOOM platform) an international conference for young scholars “International trade facing the challenges of digital and post-COVID economy: BRICS perspectives”.This event is organized as a part of a state project “Processes of regional and transregional integration and their impact on the development of the economies of the Russia’s “neighborhood belt-countries”: new opportunities and threats for Russia” and the WTO Chairs Programme.

On November 23, 2021, the Institute of Economics of the Russian Academy of Sciences, together with the Department of Russian Studies (Hankuk University of Foreign Studies), Asia Pacific Research Center (Hanyang University), and Korea Institute for Eurasian Policy, hosted an online seminar "Building a sustainable future: cooperation between Russia and Korea in digital economy and green energy projects". International Scientific Conference “National Strategies and a Common Agenda for Post-COVID Recovery in the BRICS Countries: on the Way to Sustainable Growth”
On March 30, 2021, the Center for Russia's Strategy in Asia, the Institute of Economics, RAS, and the Russian National Committee on BRICS Research hosted the international scientific conference «National Strategies and Common Agenda for Post-COVID Recovery in BRICS Countries: on the Way to Sustainable Growth». Experts from Brazil, China, India, South Africa and Russia participated in the conference.
During the opening session they were greeted by Dr. Elena Lenchuk, director of IE RAS, and Dr. Victoria Panova, managing director of the Russian National Committee on BRICS Research, Vice President for International Relations, Far Eastern Federal University. The presenters pointed out how relevant the topic of the conference is and how important the BRICS countries' national strategies are for both meeting challenges multiplied by the pandemic and positioning BRICS in the world as far as the following matters are concerned: overcoming nationalism in production and distribution of vaccines, stabilizing economies, developing human capital, etc.
H.E. Mr. Pavel Knyazev, Ambassador-at-large, Russian Sous-Sherpa in BRICS, deputy director of the Russian Foreign Ministry's Foreign Policy Planning Department, spoke about the main results of Russia's BRICS presidency in 2020. He mentioned a number of Russia's initiatives aimed at overcoming the consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic, and expressed hope that these initiatives will be supported during India's BRICS presidency.
The key initiatives regarding economic cooperation between the five countries were highlighted by Dr. Natalya Stapran, director of the Department for Multilateral Economic Cooperation and Special Projects of the Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation. She mentioned that the stable economic performance of the BRICS countries makes it possible to implement the Strategy for BRICS Economic Partnership 2025. Dr. Mikhail Golovnin, associate member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, first deputy director of IE RAS, moderated the plenary session.
A plenary paper on priorities set by India for the year of its BRICS presidency was presented by Amb. H. H. S. Viswanathan, distinguished fellow at the Observer Research Foundation, India's leading research center, who spoke about imperfection of mechanisms for multilateral cooperation existing in the world, as well as about the necessity of creating a BRICS working group on sustainable development. From his point of view, it is necessary for both overcoming the consequences of the pandemic and providing a stable basis for future growth. Amb. H. H. S. Viswanathan also reminded the audience about a few BRICS-related anniversaries coming up in the year ahead.
Participants of the conference discussed some problems of economic recovery of the BRICS countries after the COVID-19 pandemic, results of Russia's presidency in the association in 2020, the agenda for the year of India's BRICS presidency, as well as steps the BRICS members can take to promote sustainable and long-term recovery.
In his paper, Dr. Mikhail Golovnin, associate member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, first deputy director of IE RAS, highlighted a number of problems in the financial sphere faced by the BRICS countries in the context of the need for reform of the global financial architecture. He emphasized the role of BRICS in the process of «democratizing» international economic relations. In his speech, Dr. André de Melo e Souza, senior researcher at the Institute for Applied Economic Research (IPEA, Brazil), focused on problems of vaccination both in developing and developed countries. He mentioned that in many of them the process of creating and distributing vaccines was politicized, leading to protectionism and causing problems in political relations between countries. Prof. Dr. Georgy Toloraya, the founder of the Center for Russia's Strategy in Asia, IE RAS, and Ms. Valeria Gorbacheva, junior researcher at the Center for Russia's Strategy in Asia, IE RAS, presented a paper on the current epidemiological situation in the BRICS countries and Russia's experience in preventing the spread of COVID-19 and overcoming economic consequences of the pandemic, in the context of the country's BRICS presidency in 2020.
Dr. Alexandra Morozkina, head of the Structural Reforms Division, Economic Expert Group, and Ms. Natalya Krasnopeeva, lead advisor, Analytical Center for the Government of the Russian Federation, spoke about the necessity of using the mechanism of public-private partnership to solve various problems, including infrastructural ones, within BRICS. Mr. Zhaoi Zhu from University of International Business and Economics (Beijing, China) emphasized the importance of developing a digital economy for sustainable economic growth. He suggested that BRICS can initiate the introduction of the new indicators for a digital economy, since existing indicators (GDP, GDP per capita, etc.) are not helpful when it comes to characterizing the situation in this sphere. Mr. Cyril Prinsloo, senior researcher at the South African Institute of International Affairs (SAIIA), spoke about the short-term prospects for economic cooperation between the BRICS countries. Dr. Irina Korgun, acting head of the Center for Russia's Strategy in Asia, IE RAS, moderated this session of the conference.
Participants of the conference discussed the presented papers. They came up with the ideas about the role of BRICS in a post-pandemic world, the future BRICS agenda, reviewing national development strategies in the face of the new challenges and threats, and some practical measures meant to establish contacts in a pandemic world. The closing remarks were made by Dr. Irina Korgun. The participants of the conference wished India success in the year of its BRICS presidency.

International Scientific Conference “Modern Problems of Economic Growth in the Countries of Central-Eastern and South-Eastern Europe” dedicated to the memory of Dr. S. P. Glinkina
On November 26, 2020 the Institute of Economics organized (via Zoom) an international scientific conference “Modern Problems of Economic Growth in the Countries of Central-Eastern and South-Eastern Europe” dedicated to the memory of an outstanding scientist Dr. Svetlana Pavlovna Glinkina.
The conference was one of the events associated with the 90th anniversary of the Institute. The renowned Russian and foreign scientists and experts studying issues of economic development in Central-Eastern and South-Eastern Europe presented papers at the conference.
In total, 17 researchers from 10 countries (Austria, Bulgaria, Hungary, Italy, Poland, Russia, Serbia, Slovakia, France and Croatia) took part in the conference.

The Director of IE RAS, Dr. Yelena B. Lenchuk, Academician of the RAS, Head of Moscow School of Economics of the Lomonosov Moscow State University Alexander D. Nekipelov, Corresponding Member of the RAS, Dr. Ruslan S. Grinberg, said welcoming speech to the participants of the conference.
The participants in the first session discussed the general framework and factors of economic growth in CEE and SEE countries. In particular, Dr. Peter Havlik (The Vienna Institute for International Economic Studies, Austria) addressed the topic of economic convergence of the region's countries, the existing challenges to economic growth, the possibility of using a new model of economic development. Dr. Andras Inotai (The Institute of World Economics, Hungary) presented a report on the results of systemic transformation in CEE and SEE countries, as well as the prospects for European integration. Dr. Nikolay Nenovsky (The University of Picardy Jules Verne, France) tackled the issues of creating the financial architecture of the region's countries and the peculiarities of their monetary policy, relying on a wide range of theoretical studies of this issue. Dr. Pal Tamas (The Institute for Sociology of Hungarian Academy of Sciences) presented a report in writing form: its main part is devoted to the social aspects of globalization and the phenomenon of de-Westernization in post-socialist societies.
The second session of the conference brought together reports on the drivers and challenges to economic growth in CEE and SEE countries. Dr. Miklos Szanyi (The Institute of World Economics, Hungary) presented a study of three development models of the countries of the region, which are based on formal and informal institutions that have been formed for a long time. The report by Dr. Xavier Richet (New Sorbonne University – Paris III, France) dealt with a wide range of problems of the presence of Chinese capital in the CEE and SEE countries and the prospects for the development of cooperation between the region and the PRC within the "17 + 1" framework. Dr. Milica Uvalic (University of Perugia, Italy) addressed the contemporary evolutionary challenges of the Western Balkan countries based on an analysis of their macroeconomic development. Dr. Mikhail Yu. Golovnin (the Corresponding Member of the RAS, First Deputy Director of IE RAS) in his report pointed out the peculiarities of the response of monetary policy in CEE and SEE countries to recent and ongoing external shocks. The presentation by Dr. Petar Chobanov (The University of National and World Economy, Bulgaria) was devoted to the dynamics of macroeconomic indicators in the countries of the region. Dr. Goran Buturac (The Institute of Economics – Zagreb, Croatia) drew attention to the importance of stimulating cross-border cooperation that will contribute to sustainable economic growth.
The reports of the third session of the conference were devoted to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on economic growth in CEE and SEE countries. Dr. Dejan Jovic (Zagreb University, Croatia), examining the situation with countering the pandemic in the Western Balkans, argues that political elites are constructing new images that can increase tensions between the countries of the region. Dr. Juraj Sipko (The Institute of Economic Research of the Slovak Academy of Sciences) in his report addressed the analysis of a wide range of economic growth problems caused by the coronavirus pandemic. Dr. Joanna Kotowicz-Jawor (The Institute of Economics of the Polish Academy of Sciences) informed the conference participants about the socio-economic consequences of the spread of the pandemic in Poland; Dr. Vladimir Bacisin (Slovakia) in the format of a written report – on the impact of the pandemic on economic policy in Slovakia. Dr. Goran Nikolic (The Institute of European Studies, Serbia) presented a forecast of economic growth in CEE and SEE countries, based on expert assessments of leading international organizations. Cand. Sc. Mikhail M. Lobanov (Deputy Director for Research of IE RAS) considered the problems of industrial systems evolution in the countries of the region, focusing on both systemic challenges and new threats to the development of production potential.

At the end of the meeting the representatives of the Institute of Economics, RAS, and the Institute of Russia, Eastern Europe and Central Asia, the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, signed an agreement on scientific cooperation.
The International Scientific Conference "Potential for Development of Modern Enterprises"
On November 10-13, 2018, Prof. A. Gorodetsky (Head of the Department "Institutions of Modern Economy and Knowledge-Based Development" of the IE RAS) and Prof. Yu. Pavlenko (Chief Researcher of the Center for Methodological, Historical and Economic Research of the IE RAS) took part in the International Scientific Conference "Potential for Development of Modern Enterprises" at the invitation of Prof. K. Krzakiewicz (Dean of the Faculty of Management, the Poznań University of Economics and Business, Poland).
During the meeting with Prof. M. Żukowski, Rector of the University, they discussed the areas of potential scientific cooperation between the two institutions. Representatives of the IE RAS made suggestions concerning the forms of cooperation and the procedure of signing of joint agreement.
The Russian – Chinese Seminar "Comparative Analysis of Social and Economic Reforms in Russia and China"
On November 16, 2018, the IE RAS hosted the Russian – Chinese seminar "Comparative Analysis of Social and Economic Reforms in Russia and China". Introductory reports were made by Dr. Mikhail Golovnin (First Deputy Director of the IE RAS, Associate Member of the RAS) and Prof. Van Yi (Secretary of the Party Committee, Deputy Dean of the School of Marxism Studies, Renmin University of China).
At the end of the seminar representatives of the Institute of Economics, RAS, and the School of Marxism Studies, Renmin University of China, signed the Memorandum on Research Cooperation.
The 4th Annual Scientific Conference on Economics and Monetary Policy "The New Reality of the EU and the Place of the Balkan Countries in It"
On October 11-12, 2018, Dr. M. Golovnin (First Deputy Director of the IE RAS, Associate Member of the RAS) and Prof. Dr. S. Glinkina (Head of the Department "International Economic and Political Studies") took part in the 4th Annual Scientific Conference on Economics and Monetary Policy "The New Reality of the EU and the Place of the Balkan Countries in It" at the University of National and World Economy in Sofia, Bulgaria. Two papers were presented: "Response of the Monetary Policy to Challenges of Globalization: Cases of Russia and the Balkan Countries" by Dr. M. Golovnin, and 'Types of Capitalism as a Result of Post-Socialist Transformation" by Prof. Dr. S. Glinkina.
The International Seminar "Alternatives for World Economic Development"
On October 2, 2018, the Moscow School of Economics, Lomonosov Moscow State University, hosted the meeting of the international seminar "Alternatives for World Economic Development". The meeting was dedicated to problems of financial stability in the world and national economies. The international seminar "Alternatives for World Economic Development" was organized by the Institute of Economics, Russian Academy of Sciences, the Moscow School of Economics (Lomonosov Moscow State University), and the Center for International Economic Studies of the Faculty of Economics (Peoples' Friendship University of Russia). The meeting was chaired by Prof. Dr. Glinkina (Head of the Department of the General Economic Theory, the Moscow School of Economics (Lomonosov Moscow State University), Head of the Department “International Economic and Political Studies” of the Institute of Economics, RAS), and Dr. M. Golovnin (First Deputy Director, Associate Member of the RAS). The papers at the seminar were presented by: R. Martin, the leading economist of the Joint Vienna Institute ("Risks of Financial Stability in the Euro Area"); Dr. M. Stolbov, Head of the Department of Applied Economics of the MGIMO University ("The Role of Geopolitical Risks and Economic Policy Uncertainty in Financial Turmoils in Russia"); G. Oganesyan, junior researcher, the Center for Research in International Macroeconomics and Foreign Economic Relations, the IE RAS ("Indicators of Financial Stability and Their Interdependence with the Exchange Rate Dynamics in Russia"). During presentations, QA sessions and discussions participants of the seminar considered the following subjects: the shift in priorities of central banks with financial stability starting to play the key part; the main risks for financial stability in the Euro area; problems of Brexit and current turbulence in developing financial markets; evaluation of geopolitical factors and global changes in economic policies in view of financial stability; the role of the exchange rate in the dynamics of financial stability indicators in Russia.
The Russian-Vietnamese Panel Discussion "The Free Trade Agreement Between the EAEU and Vietnam: Preliminary Assessments and Results"
On September 18, 2018, the Institute of Economics, RAS, hosted the Russian-Vietnamese Panel Discussion "The Free Trade Agreement Between the EAEU and Vietnam: Preliminary Assessments and Results". The panel discussion was moderated by Prof. Dr. S. Glinkina, Head of the Department "International Economic and Political Studies" of the IE RAS, Honoured Scholar of the Russian Federation. Participants of the panel discussion were greeted by Dr. M. Golovnin, First Deputy Director of the IE RAS, Associate Member of the RAS, and Prof. Tha Ngok Than, Deputy Chair, Central Theoretical Council of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, head of the Vietnamese delegation. Participants of the panel discussion presented papers prepared within the framework of the RFH project No 16-27-09001 "The Free Trade Agreement Between the Eurasian Economic Union and the Socialist Republic of Vietnam: Problems of Implementation and Expected Outcomes".
The 6th International Forum "Tekhnoprom 2018"
On August 27–29, 2018, Dr. E. Lenchuk, Director of the IE RAS, took part in the 6th International Forum "Tekhnoprom 2018" (Novosibirsk). She presented the paper "New Industrialization as a Driving Force for Russia’s Development" at the Symposium "Russia’s Strategy: Growth Vectors and Success Formulae". The annual International Forum "Tekhnoprom 2018" (Novosibirsk) is one of the most important technological events in Russia. In 2018, the key topic of the forum was “Science as an Industry in the Face of a "Perfect Storm'". The President of the Russian Federation V. Putin addressed the meeting on August 28. Participants of the forum discussed the ways to promote technological leadership of the Russian economy on the basis of development and accelerated implementation of science-based "intellectual' technologies in traditional industries, as well as in Industry 4.0.
An Agreement on Scientific Cooperation between the Institute of Economics, RAS, and the East-Asia Sustainable Economic Development Institute, Kyungpook National University (South Korea)
On July 19, 2018, Prof. Hyungkee Kim, Director of the East-Asia Sustainable Economic Development Institute, Kyungpook National University (Daegu, South Korea), had a meeting with the following representatives of the Institute of Economics, RAS: Dr. E. Lenchuk, Director, Prof. Dr. R. Grinberg, Academic Director, Associate Member of the RAS, Prof. G. Toloraya, Head of the Center for Russia’s Strategy in Asia, T. Litvinenko, Head of the Foreign Relations Department, and P. Rozhkov, researcher, section "Evolutionary economics". As a result of the meeting, the parties signed an agreement on scientific cooperation.
The 18th Management International Conference (MIC 2018)
The 18th Management International Conference (MIC 2018) took place on May 30 – June 2, 2018, in Bled (Slovenia). Among the partner institutions were the University of Primorska, Faculty of Management (Koper, Slovenia), and the Moscow School of Economics, Lomonosov Moscow State University. Scientists and researchers from all the countries of the world gathered to discuss the international experience in the area of management practices in different spheres of social and research activities. The Institute of Economics, RAS, was represented at the conference by Dr. M. Golovnin (First Deputy Director of the IE RAS, Associate Member of the RAS) and G. Oganesyan (junior researcher, the Center for Research in International Macroeconomics and Foreign Economic Relations). Dr. M. On May 28 – 29, 2018, Prof. Dr. R. Grinberg, Academic Director of the IE RAS, Associate Member of the RAS, Prof. Dr. S. Glinkina, Head of the Department “International Economic and Political Studies”, and Prof. V. Voloshin, Head of the Section “Energy policy”, took part in the International Research to Practice Conference "The Action Strategy for the Republic of Uzbekistan: Macroeconomic Stability, Investment Activity and the Prospects for Knowledge-Based Development” at the Tashkent State University of Economics (Uzbekistan). They presented the following papers: “Mechanisms for Achieving Goals of Economic Liberalization Set by The Action Strategy for the Republic of Uzbekistan in 2017–2021" (R. Grinberg); “International Experience in Transforming the Economic Systems: Lessons for Uzbekistan" (S. Glinkina); "Problems of the Power Supply in the Context of The Action Strategy for the Republic of Uzbekistan in 2017–2021” (V. Voloshin).

The 10th BRICS Academic Forum "The Way Towards the Socially Responsible Economy Through Inclusive Development" took place on May 28–31, 2018, in Johannesburg (the Republic of South Africa). Prof. G.
