    International Conference "Russia in the post-Soviet space: problems, risks, prospects"

On Thursday, October 28, 2021, the Institute of Economics, RAS, will host an International Conference "Russia in the post-Soviet space: problems, risks, prospects", offline at Institute and online in Zoom.

The Conference is organized by:

  • the Rosa Luxemburg Foundation (branch office in Moscow),
  • the Institute of Economics, Russian Academy of Sciences,
  • the Center for party and political studies of the Institute of Europe, Russian Academy of Sciences

Working hours: from 11am to 5pm.

Topics for discussion:

  • Evolution of Russia’s role as a pillar of stability in the post-Soviet space in the 21st century: a historical review.
  • Forms of cooperation between post-Soviet countries (the CIS, the Eurasian Economic Union, the Collective Security Treaty Organization, etc.): their efficiency and potential.
  • Russia’s role in economic cooperation between post-Soviet states: current situation and possibilities.
  • Political dialogue and Russia’s role in its organization: party-to-party ties, cooperation between NGOs, research and academic exchange, role and influence of the Russian media.

    Annual conference for young scientists "Russia in Global Economy: New Challenges and Threats"

On November 25, 2021, the Institute of Economics, RAS, hosts an annual conference for young scientists "Russia in Global Economy: New Challenges and Threats" (offline at the conference hall of the Institute and online in Zoom).

Participants of the conference will discuss problems of economic development in the time of the COVID-19 pandemic faced by Russia and the whole world. Young scholars representing various scientific schools will analyze main challenges to modern development influencing the world economy’s evolution, evaluate the potential for Russia’s economic growth targeted at overcoming the consequences of current global and regional threats, and suggest measures to refine national socio-economic strategies. The best papers presented at the conference will be awarded diplomas and recommended for publication in journals issued by IE RAS (approved by the State Commission for Academic Degrees and Titles).

    International youth conference “International trade facing the challenges of digital and post-COVID economy: BRICS perspectives”

On November 25, 2021, the Asian Strategy Center of the Institute of Economics of the Russian Academy of Sciences, together with the Department of World Economy of St. Petersburg State University and the Russian National Committee on BRICS Research, will host an international conference for young scholars “International trade facing the challenges of digital and post-COVID economy: BRICS perspectives”.This event is organized as a part of a state project “Processes of regional and transregional integration and their impact on the development of the economies of the Russia’s “neighborhood belt-countries”: new opportunities and threats for Russia” and the WTO Chairs Programme.

Young scientists from Russia, Brazil, India, China and South Africa will discuss the development of digital technologies and trade cooperation within the framework of BRICS, as well as the challenges faced by countries during the pandemic.

The event will take place online on the ZOOM platform. Working language is English.
